Their challenge

According to Pablo González, Operations Director at Luna de Oriente, the company was growing very quickly — faster than expected. Because of this situation, a bottleneck emerged because the person in charge of managing orders also had other responsibilities. At that time they worked directly with a parcel carrier for which they purchased a batch of shipping labels, but after some time they concluded that solution was no longer viable.

'We bought a batch of shipping labels, but there was one particular month when we had a lot of delivery problems — packages got lost, returned, or arrived damaged — a lot of them. I think it represented about 30% of the orders we shipped on that occasion. So I set out to look for options, and someone from sales sent me Cubbo.'

Solution with Cubbo

Luna de Oriente integrated with Cubbo by connecting its Shopify online store, and the process took less than 10 minutes — though the challenge didn't end there. They joined Cubbo right before Buen Fin, which led to a spike in sales, resulting in running out of inventory. Consequently, their customers were concerned about where their orders were, but with the management of Cubbo's Customer Success team, there was a noticeable improvement in service. 

'Buen Fin overwhelmed us in a major way — we still had to carry over many orders from November into December. That's why the poor execution continued,' Pablo tells us. 'I said okay, yes, you start to notice a change in the first three months, compared to the months before when I had been working on it.'

Results

'The platform has improved a lot — it's more dynamic in the sense that we no longer need to reach out to support for every little detail,' Pablo mentions. 'We can now handle it ourselves without any problem. For specific cases, we reach out to support — for example, I didn't know there was also a disputes area, where before if they told you no, it was no and that was it. No, they told me no, you can appeal so they review it again, and in all the cases we've appealed it has been positive. I'm really happy with the work, and I also told Sebastián that it has reduced our costs too.'

Before working with Cubbo, their logistics cost margin represented 16% of revenue, and now it is 12%, so they save money while continuing to grow.

'Before it was very time-consuming and took up a lot of my time. We could be there two, three, four hours depending on volume and wait times at each carrier. So the cumulative time was a lot of what it took from us. Now the process is much faster and the platform's resolution times are much better.'

Finally, Pablo shared the following with us:

'Cubbo has helped us grow because we focus mainly on sales. We know the logistics area is covered by a specialist, so it's easier to relax and keep operating. I think the only thing that has failed for us is that we didn't anticipate how much we were growing — and it's been like, 'Oh no! We're about to run out of inventory' — and planning that from when we need to ship and everything. But that's more our internal control.'
