Nowma It's a Avis Rare, is a relatively small marketing agency, but one that is big on results. He is guided by a philosophy of customer service and care, but at the same time he understands the importance of educating him to obtain the best results.
And although their world - marketing - is one of selling the strengths of others, they are incredibly aware of their own weaknesses and have managed, with a wisdom that contrasts with their youth, to combine with strategic allies in order to empower their business.
Cubbo has the pleasure of being among these allies and today, we are pleased to tell you a little bit about the history of Nowma, to this end, we spoke with José Manuel Nosti Quintero, its founder.

Frank: Let's start at the beginning. How and why was Nowma born?
Jose Manuel: I am the founder and I also have a partner. Nowma was born because I spent three years working in a very large agency - Mccann Erickson - and then in a boutique agency.
In that boutique agency, I had the opportunity to learn everything about operations and companies. And that's when I decided to set up my own business and connect with my partner. In 2022 we are 3 years old.
Frank: What makes Nowma different as a marketing agency?
Jose Manuel: My partner worked at Netflix in Los Angeles just about six or seven years ago when Netflix hit the slap and has an enormous amount of knowledge about trends, post-production and the creative side. I think that's one of the great strengths with which we can differentiate ourselves from other agencies: we have a very important creative side. And that's why we have developed very successful campaigns.
I know very well that there are thousands of agencies, but another strong thing, which makes us different, is our absolute dedication to the client that we have. I worked in a mega-agency and then in a boutique agency and in a family business, and I brought from those experiences the discipline and the knowledge that you have to listen to the client, you have to be there for them, you have to help, guide and carry the client at all times. This does not mean that we will do any whim, on the contrary, we always seek to educate the customer and help them to be more efficient. But it does mean that if you have to do a job on a weekend, it gets done.
And the last major competitive difference of Nowma it's the team. We are a team that is defined by two characteristics: young people and super well prepared. We do a very rigorous selection process and then we help and seek to promote the continuous training of our team. Because we are results-oriented and therefore, we have to present to the client realities, facts, objectives achieved, and for that we need a well-prepared professional team.

Fruit of experience
Jose Manuel learned from his marketing experiences in two super different spectrums: a mega-global marketing agency, the famous Mccann Erickson and a boutique agency. From this mixed experience, Nowma was born.

Frank: How did they get to Cubbo?
Jose Manuel: Nowma is an agency that began focusing on digital strategies and social media management. However, with the pandemic, we had an enormous flow of customers who were looking for the management and management of their ecommerce, through Shopify. That's how we came to Cubbo.
We arrived at Cubbo because we had customers who asked us not only to bring them the ecommerce from a marketing point of view, but also to bring them site management, including logistics and final delivery. We didn't have much experience in that part of logistics and decided to look for an ally that would ensure effective operation and that we could get rid of that, knowing that logistics would be in the best hands.

Turning crises into opportunities
Nowma has a teleworking format that has helped them to remain 100% operational, even in the toughest moments of the Covid crisis.

Frank: What has the topic of working been like during the pandemic? It's all been about the ecommerce boom isn't it?
Jose Manuel: Yes. Totally. Customers have been mostly ecommerce. And we have achieved this with a lot of word of mouth. We have a sister agency called Getmore, with Alejandro Moreno, with which we have an operational alliance like the one we have with Cubbo too. And so customers who need marketing support and services come to us from them and we provide them with the solutions.
Frank: How do these alliances work, can you tell us a little more? Because it's very interesting to see how Nowma has created an ecosystem of allies in a format where it's win-win for everyone.
Jose Manuel: Yes, that's right. Well, look, Getmore creates stores, ecommerce on Shopify, but they don't do marketing, they don't drive traffic to you, because that's another area. And that's where we come in, we do the marketing and we help them get those stores up and running.
In addition, there is a symbiosis, a synergy on many levels. For example, sometimes Alejandro and the Getmore team recover or create a basic store for a customer who is in a difficult situation and pass it on to us. We increase your traffic and sales. And when their profile improves, when their profitability increases, we return it to Getmore so that now they can make it a more optimized and more powerful store.
We have developed that same principle of partners to carry out business with Cubbo too.

Nowma and Cubbo: Partnership Of results
That flexibility and that natural spirit of cooperation that you have Nowma lies precisely at the heart of his alliance with Cubbo. As Jose Manuel explains, many of the clients who came to this marketing agency were also having problems managing their online stores. That is, in addition to also having difficulties in marketing your ecommerce, these customers didn't know, couldn't or would prefer others with more experience to help them or manage them ecommerce for them.
Among the management tasks, there was one part where Nowma had no practical experience: logistics. That is why they seek the support of an ally that gives them results and that complies with sincerity, since Nowma's customers were all active stores that needed to continue and increase their sales. There was no room for error here. And in that world of results, it is that Nowma comes to Cubbo.
Frank: Explain to me a little bit about exactly what Cubbo has brought to you?
Jose Manuel: Through these customers to whom we offer the management service of their ecommerce, we are faced with the problem of how to carry out logistics. And the reality is that it didn't make sense, nor did we want to, start doing logistics. So we are looking for an ally, a partner, who will provide us with a complete solution. Cubbo was the answer to this.

Frank: So Cubbo brings you the complete ecommerce logistics, right?
Jose Manuel: Yes, of the ecommerce that we have placed in the hands of Cubbo, they do everything. This is ideal because that way we can dedicate ourselves to what we really know how to do, which is to help ecommerce increase your sales and build your brand. And we know that the operational part is well taken care of.
At the marketing level, we offer results and therefore at the logistics level we also seek results. That's why we are from partners with Cubbo, because they give us the results.
Frank: Was there anything you asked Cubbo to do as a mandatory condition to be able to work with them?
Jose Manuel: Yes. When we started with them, we asked them to do something they didn't do yet. We needed the logistics service for our customers. In other words, Cubbo had to do the logistics for us, on our behalf and that this did not create any problems or disturbances for us. That was the idea. And they did.
And besides, something happened with them that surprised me a lot. When I looked for Cubbo, I knew what a logistics company was, but I never imagined that a logistics company could offer me the same services and the same quality that an Amazon offers to an end user: That they could prepare kits at our request, bundles or specific packages of products for each order, that could be delivered the same day, that we and our customers would be followed up with messages that come to your phone and let you know that your order has already arrived, that it is on its way, that it has been delivered, etc. It really was a very pleasant surprise see the level of technology and solutions of Cubbo.

Frank: What's your market? Obviously Mexico, but they have brands or e-commerce abroad.
Jose Manuel: Well, in fact, most of our campaigns and advertising guidelines are on the East and West Coast of the United States, as we have several clients from the United States. Our target market is in all states bordering Mexico and in the United States.
But we have also had clients in Colombia and other regions of Latin America. Nowadays you can have your company in Colombia and your marketing agency in Mexico perfectly. This opens up a lot of opportunities to have capable marketing partners and doesn't restrict you to a region.
Frank: I suppose that flexibility to penetrate any market helped them a little during the beginning of the pandemic, didn't it?
Jose Manuel: The truth is that the pandemic was very hard for us at the beginning. At the beginning of the pandemic, we were really affected because we worked with many physical stores that were car distributors: Ford, Honda, Toyota, etc. We had the largest car dealer group in Mexico with us. And when the stores were closed, the truth was very bad. We had to reduce the company by 70%.
During that beginning of the pandemic and with the first quarantines, as physical stores were closed, many customers stopped their social media campaigns. Because they thought that why have campaigns running and spending, if in the end you can't sell. In addition to those customers, we also had many restaurants that were also closed.
It was in 2020 that we started with the part of ecommerce. And at the beginning of 2021, we started to have a very interesting punch because we offered other services and reached several clients that belong to very large companies, for example the case of Grisi when we started with one of their brands and now we have 11. And that's where we grew up. Nowadays, we are better than pre-pandemic.

Frank: What advice would you give to an entrepreneur reading to you?
Jose Manuel: Don't be afraid. I know it sounds very cliché, very classic. But it's very important. Not being afraid is what has allowed all the successful companies and people we know to succeed.
They all started from scratch. And when I say not to be afraid it doesn't mean to jump in and that's it. I think you have to be very organized and learn from your mistakes, but you need to try. Another tip would be that, if you have the opportunity to do a/b testing before launching your business, it would be great. I think that doing that allows you to invest little money, research and see if there really is a need for your product in the market.
Because your product can be incredible, it can be very cheap, it can have the best branding and it can be delicious, but if there isn't a need, it's dead. Or at least having a very clear customer journey is going to be complex and will be much longer term.
